What is the First Step to Building Your MLM Online?
You are reading this so you have at least looked for
training on how to build your network marketing business using the Internet.
And, why not use the Internet? People are becoming more and more savvy to the
Internet and to the benefits and ease it offers. People are also growing tired
of being ‘hit up’ by their friends and family to join this business or another.
The Internet becomes a perfect solution for a Network
Marketer to be able to have an almost endless supply of prospects. After all, the life blood of any MLM Business is leads. So, you sit
down in front of the computer and… There is so much information, how is anyone
ever supposed to figure out where to begin?
That was what I asked myself when I first thought about
using the Internet. There are many ways to build a network marketing business
on the Internet. Some of those ways are:
- Buying
Leads
- Banner
Advertising
- Pay Per
Click (Google Ad Words, Overture, etc.)
- Social
Networking (MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
- Video
Marketing
- Blogging
- List

Marketing
I first started to look at buying leads, but when I looked
at how much leads cost and then did some research on what I was getting for the
money it seemed like it was fairly cost prohibitive. The leads were expensive
and then I was pretty certain that I would not be the only one calling them. I
was pretty sure I could make it work because I have used the phone as a sales
tool with great effect for many years.
Banner Advertising and Pay Per Click I group together
because they work basically the same way. Every time someone clicks on my ad, I
pay. This can be a very effective form of marketing your business, but it can
also get very expensive, very quickly. If you want to use this method it is
best to do some research and have a system in place to track your ads.
Social Networking is fast becoming one of the most popular
phenomena on the Internet. These sites are a great tool for staying connected
in our technology driven world, and with mobile updates, you are never very far
out of touch. Millions of people use one, or several, of these sites every day
and with so many people coming on all the time, there is definitely no lack of
fresh leads.
Video Marketing is one of the fastest growing segments of
the Internet. Sites like YouTube.com have a tremendous amount of traffic and
have a library of hundreds of thousands of videos available for viewing 24/7 at
the click of your mouse. It is easy to do and only takes a few minutes and a
web cam to upload your video and have it instantly available to millions of
potential viewers.
Blogging is really nothing new to the Internet. It is really
just the modern spin of the early bulletin boards that existed in the beginning
of the Internet, but much, much more. There are blogs on just about anything
and can be a great source for getting you information out there, sharing
pictures with your family and friends, or using it to help train your down line.
List Builders help you build a list of prospects that might
be interested in what you have to offer. I am not talking about writing down a
list of all the people you know so you can start calling them and telling them
what a great company/product/service you found. Rather List Builders help you
accumulate the information about a prospect so that you are better able to
focus your marketing towards them and grow your business.
Article Marketing is a great way to get good information out
to the masses. Everyone has some value to add and writing it down into an
article is a great way to get the information out. When someone reads your
article and it helps them or they feel you have given them some good
information, they may be compelled to seek out more of your help. It is easy to
find that information because as the author, you get to sign and put a link to
more of your articles.
So there is a brief summary of what some of the methods of
generating leads and growing you network marketing business on the Internet. It
is by no means a complete list but this should help you to have an idea of the
direction you would like to go with your business. So the first step is to pick
an area that you would like to focus on and then, most importantly, find a
mentor to help you.
A mentor can seriously limit the growing pains you
experience and dramatically shorten the learning curve. Whatever you choose to
do, I suggest picking one thing and start working on it. You can work as fast
or slow as your schedule allows and can build on that one thing as you go
along. And don’t forget to find a mentor who can help you and give you some
direction. I recommend a mentor that you feel has provided you with some value.
In the next article, we will examine the steps to getting your
strategy in place and discuss the 3 things everyone serious about building
their network marketing business on the Internet must have.
